About UrPay

We built the payments
platform we always
wished existed.

Built in Brisbane. For Australian and New Zealand merchants who deserved better — and had been told to just accept it.

Our story

On the merchant's side.
Not the bank's.

UrPay was founded in Brisbane with a simple belief: Australian merchants deserve payment infrastructure that works for them — not for the banks.

We watched business owners locked into one acquirer, paying rates they didn't negotiate, with no visibility into what was happening to their money between the terminal and their bank account. Support calls that went nowhere. Terminals that went down at dinner service.

So we set out to build a platform that's genuinely acquirer-agnostic, genuinely multi-switch redundant, and genuinely on the merchant's side. PAYFAC-licensed, with real routing intelligence — not a wrapper on someone else's product.

Today, UrPay has 2,000+ payment touchpoints across Australia and New Zealand, with payments flowing through 9+ payment types. The platform is still growing. The belief hasn't changed.

What makes us different

Three things we refuse
to compromise on.

Any payment provider can say they're "flexible." Here's what ours actually means in practice.

Acquirer-agnostic

Your rates. Not theirs.

PAYFAC-licensed and not beholden to any single acquiring bank. Every transaction routes to the best outcome — lowest cost, highest approval rate — automatically. You're never held hostage to one institution's pricing.

  • Multi-acquirer routing built in
  • Least-cost routing on every transaction
  • No lock-in contracts — ever
  • Full transparency on where money routes
Multi-switch redundant

Payments that don't go down.

Our platform runs across multiple payment switches and applications. If one pathway has an issue, routing shifts automatically — with no downtime, no declined transactions, and no frustrated customers at your counter.

  • Multiple CP switches in a single stack
  • Automatic failover — no manual intervention
  • No single point of failure by design
  • 99.9% uptime SLA
Australian-built

Local team. Local support.

UrPay is headquartered in Brisbane with a local team that understands the Australian market — the POS platforms, the card schemes, the regulations, and the trading hours. When you call, you talk to someone who gets it.

  • 1800 number — 24/7 local support
  • Dedicated account management
  • Built for AU hospitality and retail
  • Compliant with AU payment regulations

Our mission

Infrastructure built
for merchants.

Most payment infrastructure is built for the bank. The acquirer. The scheme. The company in the middle taking a cut. UrPay is built for the business on the other side of the counter — the one with a queue forming and a terminal that needs to work.

We believe merchants should have the same sophistication of routing, the same redundancy, and the same visibility into their payments as the large banks have always had.

That's not radical. It's just fair. And it's what we built.

01
Merchant-first, always
Every product decision starts with: does this make life better for the merchant? Not the acquirer. Not the scheme.
02
Transparency over opacity
You should know exactly how your transactions are routed, what you're paying, and why. No hidden complexity.
03
Reliability above all else
A payment platform that goes down is worse than useless. Redundancy isn't a feature — it's a baseline requirement.
04
Local expertise, genuine support
Australian merchants deserve support from people who understand their market. Not a ticket queue in a timezone twelve hours away.

Let's talk

Work with a platform
that works for you.

No lock-in contracts. No one-size-fits-all pricing. No call centre. Just a local team who picks up the phone and gets it sorted.
